Trouble In PDP Kabba/Bunu/ federal constituency As Aspirants Reject Imposed Candidate

If the news item coming from Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency in Kogi West is anything to consider, then the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP might be heading for a woeful outing in the forthcoming general elections.

In the last couple of days, we gathered what transpired at the constituency can best be described as imposition and disenfranchisement of democratic rights of the people.

According to sources, the intense political atmosphere in Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency took a dramatic turn when the current lawmaker in connivance with some PDP state and federal officials allegedly fixed a cult-like primary for 2am in the dead of the night.

We gathered that when other aspirants got wind of the midnight primary which was originally scheduled to take place in the morning around 8a.m they stormed the venue to fulfill all righteousness. And after waiting all night without anything close to an election in sight one of the leading aspirants, Abayomi Bello challenged the motive for conducting an election in such an ungodly hour. And that action earned him a brutal attack from thugs allegedly working for the current lawmaker. It took the intervention of the security agencies to save the day.

To the utter shock of the delegates and aspirants from Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency, the current lawmaker was announced as winner when no primary actually took place. As a matter of fact, the Chairman of the election committee affirmed in his report that no election whatsoever took place.

The apparent imposition has caused great disaffection in the party. According to sources, if the situation is not quickly reversed and a level playing field provided for all aspirants to test their popularity, then the party in Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency might just have brighten the chances of the opposition in the 2019 general elections.
