The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Mr Isah Mohammed has commended the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello for keeping time and fulfilling promises since.
The Rector who said this Friday at the two-day Art Exhibition in the Polytechnic’s Department of Fine Art and Industrial Design in Lokoja, said the reliability of the present administration in keeping time and promises in running the affairs of the State is unprecedented.
Mr Mohammed who expressed happiness with the presence of the Chief of Staff to the Kogi State Governor, Chief Edward Onoja, who represented the Governor at the Exhibition said the government is a model of positive change.
“I am shocked that the Chief of Staff is here again today. He was here briefly yesterday and could not declare the exhibition opened due to his tight schedules. But he promised to be here today, and he has kept his promise,” he said.
He thanked the Chief of Staff for honouring the occasion again on the second day and at the right time to witness the Exhibition.
Onoja was reported to have left the occasion on the first day of the Exhibition to attend to three other state assignments within three hours.
In his response, the Chief of Staff said: “Past governments in the State would say one thing and do the other. They were not reliable. That era is gone. His Excellency Governor Yahaya Bello will always keep his words. Delays may set in, but ultimately it will happen. That’s one of the core values of His Excellency’s Leadership.”
While relating the message of the State Governor to the Rector, Onoja commended the Polytechnic, particularly the Department of Fine Arts and Industrial Design for the Exhibition, and urged them to continue to give adequate training to the students in order for them to be self-employed after graduation.
“Art comes from imagination, and when it is transferred to paper it becomes a complete job, either in painting or in prints. As artists you don’t need to buy, but use your initiative to make money. With the knowledge from this department, you don’t need to write application for job,” he said.
