Another Defection Hits PDP in Kogi West, 1700 Moves to APC

Sequel to the decamping event that took place at Dekina town  in Dekina LGA some few days ago, another set of defectors have further depleted the strength of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kabba, the traditional Headquarters of Kogi West today by joining the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The ancient town of Kabba stood still to receive Governor Yahaya Bello. Mammoth crowd comprising members of the public, members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) party supporters, faithful and loyalist, besieged the entrance of the town, with drums rolled out to welcome the Governor to the official Decamping event of over 1700 People’s Democratic Party (PDP) members who were defecting to the APC and also show support for President Buhari and Governor Bello

The turnout was unprecedented, impressive and peaceful, E-Reporter News correspondents reported.

In his opening remark, the Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Mathew Kolawole, welcomed all party leaders to the rally. He thanked the Governor for appointing sons and daughters of Okun land to exalted positions that were previously the exclusives of certain parts.

He said they are gathered to show support for their great leaders President Mohammadu Buhari and Governor Yahaya Bello and he implored all to pray for the good health of the President Buhari and Governor Bello, so that they can steer the country and state to its promise land.

The Speaker said the Kogi State House of Assembly has resolved to work in tandem with the government, stating that 6 bills are about to be passed. He appealed to aggrieved members of the party to sheath their sword and work together with the New Direction Government.

Senator Smart Adeyemi while explaining the reason for the gathering welcomed the Governor to Kabba, the traditional headquarters of Kogi West. He said the idea of having this rally occurred 6 days ago and it is to show to the world, where we stand. He said “we are here to show support for the government.

Senator Smart Adeyemi said, “We stand with you”, stressing further, he said the game has changed and its a new ball game in Kogi state and Nigeria.

The Governor, Senator Smart said has displayed equity, fairness and justice to all. He reiterated the fact that there are many political offices that ordinarily Kogi West indigenes cannot hold, but today we they are occupying such.

Senator Smart Adeyemi also said the Governor has displayed rear courage in sanitizing a very corrupt civil service.

While responding, Governor Yahaya Bello appreciated the people for the votes of confidence passed on President Mohammadu Buhari. He said God has restored the health of the president, so that he can continue to lead us till 2023.He promised to continue his good works all over Kogi State

Speaking on the alleged double INEC registration, Governor Bello reiterated again that he was out of the country for medical exigencies and it is therefore not possible for to carry out any registration while he was away.

He cited the handiwork of mischief makers who are hell bent on rubbishing his growing political personality. He however said he would protect his integrity using all available legal options.

The Governor alluded that the people involved in the double registration saga were corrupt members of the commission who connived with his political detractors to manufacture “white lies against him.”

He explained that “some corrupt politicians bribed some corrupt elements to say Governor Bello was involved in double registration, and I have to put them to shame by going on air to tell Nigerians the truth.”

Speaking on behalf of the defectors Hon. Musa Abdullahi Adakeke, who is the Chairman of the former appointees from the 21 LGAs of the state, he said they are delighted at the performance of Governor Yahaya Bello and urged him not to relent in his efforts in making Kogi great again.
